On-line analysis tools for teaching, with R and Shiny

I’ve just been checking out the online teaching tool Radyant, which Vincent Nijs is developing at http://vnijs.rady.ucsd.edu:3838/marketing. This runs R on the server and he used the package Shiny to create the interactive HTML & JavaScript front-end from inside R. This is the shape of things to come for introductory stats teaching – you can focus the students onto the aspects you want, leave out the confusing multitude of commands and drop-down menus, and then add in more stuff week-by-week.Image
